Karen Aviles studied Fashion Design at the prestigious Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California. In her last year at Otis, she was hired by Robert Comstock to design his Spring Collection and later to design other lines for his company. There she developed her passion for top quality leathers and fabrics, which remain an inspiration in all her clothing lines.
Aviles went on to design for several fashion companies and develop clothing lines with different partners and associations as an independent contractor. While designing evening wear, Aviles had the opportunity to work with celebrities such as Brook Burns, who needed gowns for special events, and began to develop a passion for work as a Stylist as well as Designer. Aviles discovered a new excitement and passion for the creative challenge of filmmaking when she worked on the movie "Ingenue" as the Costume Designer. After "Ingenue" Aviles was hired to work on more projects in the Film Industry.
Aviles was asked by Academy Award nominated Costume Designer Ruth Carter to work as her Assistant Costume Designer on numerous projects, from film to television - including the hit drama series Shark staring James Woods. She has been a member of the 892 Costume Designers Guild and has worked on union and non-union projects. Aviles has experience in a diversity of settings from television commercials to music videos including a music video for The Black Eyed Peas where she worked directly as the Stylist for Fergie and the band. Most recently Aviles developed a new contemporary high-end Dress Line for an established clothing manufacturing company and is currently returning to work in the television and film industry.
